The Eighth Annual Westchester Wine Experience will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008, 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Pace University, Kessel Campus Center, Pleasantville, New York.  The event will host Westchester County’s top restaurants, best wineries, importers and wholesalers from around the world.  The cost for the event is $50.  Proceeds will benefit Rotary projects and many local charities.

Last year over 500 people attended this wonderful event.  A great success for Pleasantville Rotary and the charities they support.  This year the event will bring in over 200 wines from around the world.  Wineries, importers and wholesalers will be there to answer your wine questions.  Meet the owners and chefs of the areas finest restaurants serving their signature dishes.

Wine Seminars will also be available for an additional $25.00 on that day.

There will be four seminars lasting 45 minutes each.- two at 1:45 and two at 2:45.

A Port Wine Seminar exploring the various styles of port wine...white, ruby, tawny (young and aged), late bottled vintage and vintage...and wines from various port houses will be sampled.  The wines will be tasted in combination with foods ranging from stilton cheese to dried fruits and nuts to chocolate and other desserts.  This class will be given by Andrea Russo from Aries Wines & Spirits in White Plains.  Aries Wines and Spirits, owned by White Plains Rotarian Tony Russo and his wife, will also have a table on the tasting floor.  Here participants can place orders at a discounted price for any of the wines tasted.  In addition, Aries will donate 10% of all sales to the Pleasantville Rotary.  This is a great way to stock up for the spring holidays and to further contribute to a good cause.  We hope you will take advantage of this new opportunity at the event.

Also available from Ned Towle of the Westchester Wine School - The FAB FOUR:  Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.  We will taste, discuss and identify the unique qualities of each variety and the prime regions from which they come.  We will learn how the same variety can be made in different styles and what the winemaker does to achieve that style.  We will do comparison tastings to better identify each variety's unique qualities.  Along with a clarification of varietal tastes, flavors and textures, we will discuss the food pairing opportunities each offers.

Join Sebastian Allende of Chile's acclaimed Santa rita Winery for a fascinating journey through the country's most important and distinctive wine regions.  From Casablanca and Rapel to Apalta and Maipo, experience the diverse range of textures, aromas and flavors that Chile's varied climates and terrain impart in the wines.  Founded in 1880, the Santa Rita estate was among the first to pioneer plantings of European grape varieties in Chile.  Today, they continue to place the utmost emphasis on planting within the specific locations and conditions that will yield the best expression of each grape variety.

Melissa Prospero of Prospero Winery and Andre Magiotta of Mediterraneo Restaurant will work together for a food and wine pairing seminar.
