We a wonderful face-to-face outside meeting on September, the first since March. It gave us an ideal opportunity to invite District Governor Mary Shackelton to meet with us. Mary brought with her Assistant District Governor, Donald Rizzo. The District’s theme this year is ROTARY OPENS OPPORTUNITIES. Mary’s on-line learning opportunities are relevant, informative and helpful in keeping our own Clubs up and running during this sheltered period. They are doing a fantastic job of getting the word out about what’s happening in Rotary. Members expressed their appreciation to Mary for her service to Rotary and our District.
Other items Mary spoke about include:
OCTOBER 24 – WORLD POLIO DAY
DG Mary shared that District 7230 is planning three fun ways to #EndPolioNow!
- Virtual Walkathon: Get moving throughout October and end with a finale party and video contest on World Polio Day – 10 AM
- End Polio Now Brunch: Hear from President Holger Knack and many others to hear about where we are on our journey to eradicate polio. - Noon
- Oktoberfest Party: Fun, food, bier, Bavarian dancing, prost! Mike McGovern, RI PolioPlus Chair, will offer an insiders update on the campaign to eradicate polio from the planet. – 2 PM

DG Mary realizes the District has lost so much in so many ways. She shared that the District has just under 1100 members and that we need to reach 1200 members by July. There are resources in the District that can help with managing membership, growth and retention.
It was a great meeting! We wore masks, socially distanced and enjoyed a meal together outdoors. It was so nice to see each other in person after 6+ months of Zoom meetings.
